Library News - Rise in Reading!
There has been lots in the press during the first part of the National Year of Reading about a decline in reading for pleasure. However, latest figures from the National Literacy Trust indicate that a change may be occurring, with more children and young people saying they like picking up books in their spare time and an increase in those saying they read every day. Our own experience of pupils coming in to read in the Library and our borrowing data certainly chimes with this – well over 15,000 books have been issued so far this academic year – significantly more than in recent years, and with four weeks left to go!
Congratulations to Vinicius C (Year 7), Josh G (Year 7) and Alex I (Year 8) for their colourful bookmarks for our football competition!
