All pupils and students are automatically members of the Library, a bright and welcoming space for quiet and purposeful study and reading for pleasure. Run by qualified, experienced staff, the Library provides a wide range of print and digital resources to support academic progress, inspire curiosity, and promote a love of reading.
The Library is also the venue for special events. Our regular Library Club involves playing word and language games, and practicing language skills. We might play Just a Minute or Spelling Bees, share new books and chat about them, or try making haikus as we begin exploring short fiction forms.
We are thrilled there are so many really keen readers in Year 7, and love hearing their feedback on the books they are so enthusiastically borrowing! Sixth formers appreciate our silent study periods for serious, ‘eyes down’ working, and we are lucky to have a very competent and willing team of prefects to help with the workload. We also benefit from wider community support; a generous donation from the Friends of Saint Cecilia’s to buy tablets, links to our local public library at Southfields, and new stock sponsored via the Donate a Book campaign.
The Library opening hours are as follows:
- Mondays: 8.50am – 1.50pm and from 3.10pm – 3.55
- Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 8.30pm – 1.50pm and from 3.10pm – 3.55pm
- Wednesdays: 8.30am – 1.50pm and 3.10pm – 3.55pm (for Club attendees only).
Closures may arise due to events or booked classes.
